Jura Giga 5 - Puff of air/steam before hot water is dispensing

    • Jura Giga 5 - Puff of air/steam before hot water is dispensing

Hersteller: Jura | Typ-/Modell: Giga 5 | ca. Baujahr: Unbekannt

Couple weeks ago we switched from x8C to the newly refurbished Giga 5 and got used to the difference,
but there is one thing that drives every Matcha tea user crazy. The machine loves to spit short bursts of air/steam before
it starts dispensing hot water. This will only happen on first use, second dose is fine. if you use the milk frother between
dispensing hot water it will happen again on the first try.
Is this a "feature" or there is something I can do to fix it?. 8o
I did play with the hot water temperatures and it doesn't make any difference.
The Matcha tea is in powder form so you can imagine the mess it creates :D
Is the R "flussdampfer" the part that should prevent this?

      Thanks

    • Hello.

First of all, I celebrate this particular machine because I absolutely hate matcha tea.

The flux damper I guess will be the inside of the hot water pipe (jura-parts.com/Jura-GIGA-Water…d-Distributor-p/10372.htm) - at least there is no further information or parts to be found on this from EF or Jura.
It seems that there is either too much pressure in the system or not enough. In both cases I would take a closer look at the outlet valve "I". The outlet valve "M" may also be holding a too high basic pressure in the machine.
So I would first look at the outlet valves and, if necessary, replace the pumps as a test if the insert in the hot water pipe is still intact and check that there are no air bubbles anywhere in the watercourse.

I'm only answering today because I wanted to test how it behaves with tea on my GIGA X3 (except for the second grinder, which is identical to the GIGA 5) in the office. I only use hot water for tea bags in the machine several times a day and have never had coffee from it since I've had it
But I wasn't 100% sure what was happening. A MINIMAL spitting at the beginning and then completely regulated as you think. In any case the spitting is so weak that not a single drop splashes around.

Your GIGA 5 has two pumps (230V version) or only one (because of 120V version)?

Haaaahahahaha, I approve this message
Mind you when I related this to my wife, she said you are "dead" to her BS 8o

This machine is European 2 pump version :)
You are probably right about those outlet valves, what I noticed that especially the one that goes to the drip pan is really noisy
and the puff it makes is very loud compared to other machines I had my hands on.

Here is link to short clip from heating up to the actual "Matcha blaster" action :)

Next dispensing is fine (unless you use steam before that)
