      Recently I had device shipped to me and it was very poorly packaged ?(
      The screen was rubbing on something in the package and now looks like this


      Anyone tried to polish this plastic with success? If yes, what did you use?

      Also like to know if it would be better to refinish the scratched aluminum by spraying
      or wrap it like a car with PPF film?
      Some people are not users but abusers Probably dishwasher... :cursing:

      I try to treat display damage like this with acrylic glass polish - it's a very time-consuming process - but it usually gets better. The problem with the rotary boxes is that they have a “protective layer” over the actual acrylic (or is it multi-layered?) How this will behave in the end is therefore even less predictable.

      If the anodized layer of the ALU has become so rotten in the dishwasher, you can no longer get rid of it "invisibly". I put a light film of silicone (or other food-safe grease) on top. This makes it a bit better - but here it is very unsightly - even with a light layer of fat you will quickly see that it looks different.

      Hehe, nobody here beats your knowledge you got BS, without you I would be in deep sh*t trying to fix them.

      I'm so tempted to remove the skin over the acrylic but not sure what would happen, don't have bad unit to test on.
      It would be very easy to reskin it in clear PPF like car headlights, except cutting the holes for buttons.

      Ordered brushed stainless steel looking PVC film (aliexpress.com/item/1005003943779592.html?)
      for the ALU parts and will try to skin those. Not sure about the material quality but it's cheap, so if it doesn't work out I'll try something else.

      Yes, I saw (sometimes and somewhere on eBay) where large parts were missing.
      Looked absolutely terrible - a total loss to me. It seems somehow laminated or deep-drawn...

      But I have also seen/had some machines where the display has developed flaking around
      the edge. However, I couldn't even say with sufficient certainty that it is actually a defined
      coating and that the material is not built up in layers like puff pastry. In this case there
      would be no homogeneous surface at all to build on if the "top layer" were peeled away.

      I think there is one top layer shrinker over the actual plastic lense.
      I got one machine where it starts to delaminate in the corner and it looks like it got brittle due to UV damage.
      If I see something broken reasonably priced I'll buy it and experiment on that piece.
      Managed to buff out most of it, so for now it's OK.
