Jura Giga 5 - Is there more than one Giga 5 revisions?

    • Jura Giga 5 - Is there more than one Giga 5 revisions?

Hersteller: Jura | Typ-/Modell: Giga 5 | ca. Baujahr: Unbekannt

      Hi folks,
I just acquired Giga 5 and comparing the internals to Giga X8c (3 pumps) there is only one pump inside the Giga 5.
While browsing for parts here on Komtra there is 2 pumps listed for the Giga 5 (smaller 28W I presume steam and the large pump)
I'm confused, is there 2 versions of the Giga 5?

      Thanks

One more side question, all the brewing unit orings are clear silicone except the upper fluid exit nipple seal,
that one is black and hard like a rock (nitrile seal)?
      Anyone seen that before?

    • In Germany (and probably all 230V Machines) have 2 pumps.
I don‘t know exact whats with the GIGA 5 but the very similar
GIGA X3 has only one pump in the 120V version…

The clear o-rings are the newest version.

    • I researched and actually the 120V version of the GIGA 5
also has it only a pump and one flowmeter and does not
have the milk coffee and power hot water functions.
The steam heater also does not have 1080W but 1200W
      in the 120V version.

This applies to the GIGA X3, GIGA W3 and GIGA 5. For the
GIGA X7 (which is technically identical to the GIGA 5), I have
no information about a 120V version. I also can't say whether
there is even a 120V version of this. If so, it is not unlikely that
it also applies to the GIGA X7.

    • It seems that you now have a run at finding cheap Jura machines...

I can't give a definitive answer here. The GIGA 6 was referred to as
GIGA 5 GII in the first documents of Jura and then came onto the
market as GIGA 6 here, but I don't know what name it is on your
      market.
As far as I know, the very first Z5 Chrom was called Z6 in North
America. So it doesn't always have to be a 1:1 match on both sides
      of the sea...

    • Since the fabric hoses are not used over a large area in the GIGA 5,
especially not in the heating area, there shouldn't be any comparable
      problems.

    • Did you guys try to reveal the bottom from the Giga 5?

Is this fairly easy or does this call for major disassembly?
I like to clean it out since the previous owner was user only and did not give a F about cleaning.
I found 4 screws on the water tank side and one under the ceramic valve, but it is still holding on.
There must be more hidden somewhere or some clips.
      Any other tips?

    • Here, changes of the shortcut buttons can only be done by
      the Jura-Professional-Dealer with his Animation-Software.

In Europe also there is no reset function or other option for
the user to do anything by themselves.

    • I am adding to my previous statement. It is also possible with the
European professional GIGA-X devices to rename the products
      and assign the buttons yourself.

This function is not available on the GIGA 5 "home". With the newer
home GIGA 6 and GIGA 10 it is also possible to swap and rename
      the products on the display(s).

Why they "crippled" the firmware like that in the Giga 5 is beyond me.
If they offered FW upgrade it would be worth to have it done by Jura service,
but they could not expect people to drag it in for every change.
    • There is no firmware for the GIGA 5 with this Funktion.

And the firmware is not crippled at the GIGA 5 (because
this is the „oldest“ GIGA) the firmware of the GIGA X is
      expanded…
