Jura E80 Impressa - Thermoblock coil blown, why?

    • Jura E80 Impressa - Thermoblock coil blown, why?

Hersteller: Jura | Typ-/Modell: E80 Impressa | ca. Baujahr: Unbekannt

I got hands on like new old E80, and since the machine is in excellent shape I decided to fix it.
This model is very old and the only problem is it has blown thermoblock (not fuse not the sensor, not the triac)
I have to say I never saw machine before with blown heater, what can cause this?

The thermoblock is no longer made, I'm sure you can find it fairly easy in Europe but I needed the 120V version,
and even used the asking price here in North America is $240, just crazy!
I was lucky enough to source very cheap replacement for fraction of the cost and would hate to damage it.

Any precautions you would take before installation?

      Thanks!

BTW HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE ! :D

    • You can use a TB2003 from a newer machine
like C5 or some like this if you can get one in
120V. You „only need“ other hose connections
      and hoses.

Look here at the hose connection of the heater

      Connectors:

      komtra.de/jura-ersatzteile/jur…kel-jura-thermoblock.html

      And hoses with the brass-rings

    • I don´t know if they are also on the north american market,
but by Nivona or Melitta and even some older Jura Nespresso
machines a similar TB MAY be mounted, like here:
      https://www.ebay.de/itm/354415435589

Here one from older Bosch/Siemens like Surpresso Compact,
Krups OrchestroDigital, AEG CF300-500 machines with 1400W:
      ebay.de/itm/154938522123

I don't know if it works, but look a little off the beaten path to
maybe get something suitable at a cheaper price.
      The eugster TB2003 with 1400W (steam function - 1200W
only water) was also used in a similar way in some machines
that you don't think of at first.
The one from the Ebay link only has 1200W, but it should serve
as an "idea" to look elsewhere. If it came from a device with a
steam function, it would probably also have 1400W.

    • Yeah, none of these models and most brands don't sell here
I did try to cross-reference as well, ended up by accident finding one from Capresso C-1300
Looks exactly the same as the one I took out from the E80.
Another bonus is that both fuse and sensor is included and some other parts as well.
There is never enough parts... :D
      Can't wait to get it!

      Take a Google-Search for AEG CF300 ;)

Its something "between" CF300 and CF400 in Germany
or Jura Novamatic 301 in Swisserland
