Jura E75 Impressa - Disconnected thermoblock ground wire? + Clogged thermoblock

    • Jura E75 Impressa - Disconnected thermoblock ground wire? + Clogged thermoblock

Hersteller: Jura | Typ-/Modell: E75 Impressa | ca. Baujahr: Unbekannt

      Quick question
Today I opened E75 machine for cleaning and noticed disconnected ground wire just flapping in the case.
The other side is connected to the thermoblock.
Any idea where it should connect? Can't find any connection point anywhere.

      Thanks!

    • Hello,

In the European version it goes on to the drainage valve and then
on with another ground-wire to the connector terminal to which the
      power cable is connected.

Both, heater and drainage valve require a ground connection.

    • Thanks BS!
Interesting, strange thing is there is no other grounding wire anywhere in the case
and the machine here is using only 2 prong plug, without grounding wire.

Also strange that someone did disconnect it from the drainage valve and just let it hang.
Perhaps the electromagnet was replaced by someone sloppy.

    • I don't know what it's like in North America, but here
it's not allowed to operate such a device without
grounding and without a fully connected 3-pin plug

Because the use of water and metal can result in contact
with the mains voltage if the device is defective.

    • The machine is probably from 2004. At that time, the drainage valve
magnets were only available in brown. This is black - so it has already
been replaced and the cable may not have been reconnected .
Jura has always delivered the heating cartridges (name in German:
      Heizpatrone) with complete cabling.
It may be that there are also countries with 120V where grounding is
required. For this reason it may be that the cable is connected but no
      longer goes on...

      That makes sense!
I was shocked that 20 year old machine can look this good, I guess the owner did proper cleaning :)

Unfortunately the same can't be said about descaling :( The thermoblock is pretty much clogged.
any recommended way to unclog it? Should I take it apart from the top or is there a seal that will need to be replaced?

      Thanks

Normally it works as described in the instructions. Unfortunately (as you can see) they tend to leak at the head and so the screws are rusted and break off when you try to open them.
There are no longer any replacement heating cartridges, so it makes more sense to try to remove dirt from the outside as best as possible and to use the device as long as it works. The heating cartridges also suffer from pitting over the years and this cannot be remedied - that is then "the END" anyway.

If you can still open it, the upper swirl plate must also be removed in order to be able to look in further (pitting check) and to get the residue out better.

I managed to inject in decalcifier and now it flows free but I'm not confident that it's completely free of calcium.
Also while purging it it spitted out leftovers of orange o-ring.
Will purge it couple more times and see how it goes.
The bottom pressure hose is attached and impossible to remove
The chrome fitting is seized in thermoblock and impossible to unscrew.

You´ll never get it complete free of calcium - even if
disassembled. Look here Post 3 and Post 10:
      DIE "PINNWAND DES GRAUENS"

Gasket residue can indicate pitting inside the heater in
the area of the lid gasket - as long as it works, it works.

The Legris connection (chrome fitting) can be unscrewed
      from the heater.
But you need a big wrench, a vice and A LOT OF POWER!
It's best not to do anything here as long as it doesn't leak!
